"You promise?" i asked, wide eyed "that we will win one day? you'll be there"

"I promise" our father said softley.

After that i still asked a few questions, but fell gent;y aslep

I soon fell asleep as well.

I woke up the next day. things felt different now that I knew how bad things really were. The gold serons were struggleing to just stay alive.

Life really had changed. I wished i could shield everybody from the enemy and be done with it

"I want to help them" I said as I sat by mellorie and conner. "now that I know how bad things really are for them"

"Me too." I said. "really badly..." my mind began to come up with a wild plan. so wild that it might work

"if only we were older..."

"But you see" my voice dropped to a hoarce whisper "because we are younger they'd never expect us, we can get under their defenses"

"and then....?"

"Its the last thing anybody would expect. we could go 'exploring' then find a way to be able to investigate the enemy, then collapse them from the inside. they would be so proud of us"

"sounds like a plan" I did not bother to add that if we failed we were dead. she probably knew that.

I looked around carefully. "Nobody else knows okay? just us three"

"ok," I said. "so how are we going to get away. we are the leaders kids. his elite fighters will be watching us"

i shifted my gaze to alyss mishievously.

"if you do that she may thin you are up to something"

"Sghe might could help us"

"she's nice. but she is loyal to lucas." I reminded mellorie "just like the other elite"

"What about Kristi?"

"maybe, if we could find her. she's a spy"

I grinned knowing my point was valid
