I really hadn't though about it much but now i worried. I hadn't seen her since... my eyes began watering up

I grinned darkly, my plan had worked, pourpously dissapearing in the heat of one of the fiercest battles, getting time to inverstigate the enemy, discovering a bigger weakness for the (Oompa Loompas). Dissapearing without other's notice was my strongpoint.

(no, not at all. she's just stlightly hurt by everything, adn she comes across as dark. She just prefers to be distanced a bit)

I had thought my father was confident and new what to do about everything. But one night. I overheard a conversation he was haveing with alyss. he was inhis human form so I heard everything he was saying. I wonderdif mellorie, who was beside me. heard it too. "we have tried everything short of begging. they arent going to give up untill we are all dead" he was saying. "we have killed many of their leaders, many of them. even killed xzarna himself. and yet they keep comeing at us. harder each time. each time they have some new mutation helping them. In some cases they are the mutation." he paused for a moment. "we thought this would end when xzarna was dead, and here we are a hundred uears later still trying to not die"

I too had been listening. But their conversation was cut short when i, know knowing it, had gasped in surprise.

"I thought you two were asleep" our father said. faceing us.

my face was already hot,but tears now streaked down my face "I'm sorry, just couldn't sleep and i was worried and and..."

"you heard what we were saying?" lucas said.

"yes" i squeaked out

"and you were worried about what you heard?"

"Why wouldn't i be?"

"Do the peolple fighting even know what they are fighting for in the first plavce?"

"yes, they now very well why they are fighting, to protect. it is our purpose in life. to protect the innocent of humans and other serons. if not for the human city not far from here or the hatchlins in this pack we would have given up long ago. we are tryring to protect them and you"

"But why are they" i said it with a bitter emphasis "fighting us? Why do they hate just you and mom?"

"Thats rather childish. Don't they realize they will only be hurt if they continue to throw such tantrums? If they were willing to think logically and be willling to change themselves first it would make their lives easier"
