at the same time we all let out a shreik. whetver was follwing us would be unable to think and would defineantly have a very bad headache.

now run! i began to run. it would be useless to incaopacitate a pursuer and then give it time to catch up

what tasks? Who's eyris? Who are you and why am i talking to you? I took a step back and curled defensivly, glaring. (the creature following them has dome something to tamper with alyss's memory )

Alyss was bein maipulated, i had no reason why. but i knew that she would never act like this. After awhile she seemed unable to remember who she was or anything. I w atched carefully and patiently but when she shifted stance, obviously ready to fight, i jumped into action, dissapearing into the trail behind us, trying to locate the unseen enemy. it wasn't that hard at all to find. whatever it was looked similat to a human femal, but not quite. she has much power over emotions and a dark fire in her eyes. release my friend, now. i ordered her fearlessly. She considered my request. as she did so i worried about what was going on with my friends. i really hopes alyss hadn't carried out her plans to fight

I weaved mself into alyss's mind. my father ahd taught me how to do this But I had never tried it before. I began restoreing alyss's memory as quickly as I could. I was able to restpre enough of it that she knows that I am her freind, that she can trust me and that for some reason we had t tlak to eryis. But I wasent able to resotre anything els before she foruced me out.

when it came back to me, realizing what i had been just about to do, i broke down. i'm so sorry, i don't know what happened! i feel so bad.

i stared the creature, whatever she was very intently. Let Alyss go now. i said forcefully. she rolled her eyes, sighed, and sudenly she became slightly less glowing in color. I ran back to my friends

everything came back. the shock still was strong, but i knew that we had to keep going. especially now that Kristi was back. I acted like i was fine so we could move forward

we kept going. I relaxed a little when we were in the middle of one of the pack territories. untill I rmemberd the pack who once held it was gone.

I was much more quiet the next leg of the journey.

I was at first alarmed when I sensed soemthing up ahead. then relaxed when i smelled the unmistakeible scent of a human child. then my feleings quickly changed to concern when i relaized the closest human settlement was several miles away. we had all ben taught our entire lives that we were suppsoed to protect the humans as if we would another seron. what do you think he, or she is doing way out here? I said to alyss. we could not yet see the child. but the scent was strong. either they were abandond or they are really lost

I followed directions quickly.
as i walked, i realized that i seemed to move with a skipping step, which was slightly embarassing compared to lucas's almost regal march and Kristi's graceful stroll

we came aorund the corner and found a small girl. she was crying. she looked really scared.

It was i who rushed foreward, a mother's comforting expression. from where i'd known it i had not the slighets clue.
"There there," i comforted the girl, an arm around her. "Don't be afraid. We're here to help you"

and the rumars that serons eat litlte girls who get lost, are false. we think humans taste terrible" I said. the girl turned to me. "you mean you are..." she said, stareing at us.

i shot lucas a glare that said 'cut it out, your scaring her'
"I am Alyss, and these are my friends." i spoke calmly. "yes we are serons, but we are your friends, too."

"i am lucas, what is your name"

she mumbled something inaudible.

I kept glanceing behind me. I was sure something was going to jump at us while we were all standing around.
