Instruments

Thought we should have a thread to discuss instruments. I personally play Bass Trombone and Ocarina. I also used to play guitar but I kind of stopped as I got tired of it but I keep telling myself I'll start playing again sometime. It's mainly a time thing really. I also used to be in chorus but I was never any good so I cut it in favor of band when I could only pick one.

I sing in choir (bass 1, but I can usually do the bass 2 parts), I taught myself piano, so I'm not great at it, but I'm okay. I also have this instrument called a melodica, which is really cool, and I need to play it a lot more. It's almost like an air powered keyboard that sounds kinda like a harmonica

I just looked that up, it's awesome. We should create a band if lesser known instruments, lol

MY main instrument is my voice and I sing all the awkward harmony things (S2 A1, baritone in barbershop, whatevs).
But I am also beginning to play trombone again and actually sound like a brass player. Amazing what happens when you get a bit of confidence.

Trombone is so much fun

It can be. But if you are playing with half air because you don't want to play loud and be wrong...then you end up playing wrong because you aren't confident enough and yeah.
Trombone is an instrument without a "learning voice" like what singers use in Choir.

From freshman year of high school through now I have been in community group one night a week. Most of the people in there are adults or retired professionals. And then there is me. I could always just hide behind my section.
Well now I am also in a 9pc group and am the only trombone so I had had to play up and "sing out" if you will

Yeah that makes sense. I was in trombone choir until I moved and every individual is so important that you just have to play out. I definitely get that feeling. Playing auditions also helps

I finally named my instrument! Been spending enough time with it that he deserves one.

Haha nice. Weird reading he cuz I consider instruments female but that's probably just a guy thing. My instrument is named as well

It would make sense that a girl would have a male instrument and likewise. My car is male too.

I haven't played a lot of instruments, but the gender varies for me. A piano or keyboard is a he, but flutes are generally she.

Piano is gender neutral
