random info on pets that I have owned.
I am bored. so I am makeing a thread with random info on pets I have owned
beleive it or not, rats are good pets. true they only live about three to five years. But they are freindly and cleaner then you might think. ((if they arent chewing on something, they are cleaning themselves or eating)) they are also very good climbers. my brother had a rat, we would let him out and he would crawl all over the place. even down peoples shirts. we got to a point where we could put him on my dogs head. rats are also very quite, the only sound they make is a small squeaking noise.
care reguired for a rat is.
they have to have food and water available at all times.
they have to have at least a half an hour a day out side of their cage with their owners.
their cage has to be cleaned once a week.
and hey have to have something in their cage for them to chew on so their teeth don't get overgrown.
and, that was my totaly random thing about rats being pets.
and now on to red eared slider turtles.
ok, first of all, red eared sliders get their name for their habbit of slideing off rocks and into the water when a predetor is comeing. ((mine does this when I come into the room, not that he could really hid from me)) and also the "red eared" part comes from the red stripes on the side of their head, males ave long front claws ((I have a male)) and wide back feet. in the wild they will eat aquatic plants and small fish, as pets they eat carrots, small fish and turtle food.
wild red eared sliders are found in warm bodies of fresh water. wich means pets are reguired to have waters at least 80 degrees faranheight for them to be warm enough.
they are not good pets if you want something to hold, they are small enough to pick up, but they bite, and it hurts when they bite ((take it from someone who has owned one for five years))
red eared sliders can live up to 50 years with propor care. and can grow to the size of a dinner plate ((mine is only five years old, and lust as big as a dessert plate))
care reguired for a red eared slider is.
clean water as deep as the turtle is long.
food twice a day, they can eat most vegetables ((ice berg lecuace is bad for turtles)) and strawberrys, they can also eat worms, any kind of insect that doesn't sting, and small fish. or you could just feed them turtle pellets from the pet store.
and they need a dry place to bask, and a basking light.
you do not need a top for the tank, But it is recomended you use a 100 gallon tank, becuase of how big they can get.
and that is somne random info on pets I have owned.

Well... Random pets...
We once found a wild duck in my garden and looked after it until we set it free again.
We rescued a kestrel from the street, but it died...
I have a tortoise that bites my cat's tails.
My ex-neighbour (a 7 years old boy), caught flies (really) and looked after them in shoeboxes. That's weird...
My other pets have been cats and fish.

Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
When i was in fourth grade, some of the courtyards at the schools filled up and tadpoles began to hatch I ended up taking care of three little toads, so tiny that they could sit completly on your tumbnail. That was a lot of fun, even though they lived only about two weeks.

We grew tadpoles two years ago in class... Some girls took them home at the end of the year.

I got a red eared slider hatchling five years ago... I still have him.

We found our tortoise under a rose bush in a house we were moving into. The previous owners didn't know about the tortoise... It's weird.

Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
I am an animal fanatic. so I know a lot about all kinds of animals. but hardly anything about plants.
Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
My family ends up killing whatever plants we have, except for the stupid catclaw vine, it won't die! My dad had tried to burn it, to dig it up, it wont go away

i want to get a fish, or a frog, because they are very calming to watch.
but my mom's response to my request for a fish was getting me one of those lamps that move around

real fish are better. But don't get guppies. unless you have a turtle to feed them to. they breed so fast, two guppies grow to two hundred guppies in just a few weeks.
Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
yeah cool. if you have endless space. if you have too many fish they will sufficate.
Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
I used to have fish, but now I don't have any pets at all.
Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
pets are fun to have. but most of them are a pain to take care of.
Re: random info on pets that I have owned.
Before I had a cat, it was meowing in the roof of my house so I put milk. It was a wild cat so it escaped... This was the first time I had a pet
